Creatively Supporting the Environment

Juriaan Blok was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to the US as a child. At an impressionable age, I had visited the Amsterdam art museums and was influenced by the Dutch Masters and Post-Impressionist painters. I taught myself by watching other kids in school.

Having lived in Indonesia, Europe, Mexico and the US, I have a broad view of the world but am currently inspired by the compelling natural beauty of the North Coast. In recent years, Japanese Sumi-e and watercolor have been my mediums of choice. I am currently exploring the fusion of traditional Sumi-e techniques with contemporary materials.
